Jason Martinez on trial for murder of Eve Batchelder after thorough investigations by police and all law-enforcement officials. Eve Batchelder, a 27 year old mother of 2 children, was allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend Jason Martinez on March 28, 2006. On this date, Eve Marie Batchelder, of Safford , Arizona was listed as missing by her family and friends when she didn't turn up for work at the Beverage House in Safford. Shortly after, rumors begin to circulate about Jason Martinez being involved her disappearance. He was the last person seen with her and apparently had been telling his current girlfriend about his plans to murder her, this among other discoveries that link him to the murder are reasons why Martinez on trial for murder of Eve Batchelder .
Upon investigation, police discovered that she was last seen in the company of Martinez , in a 1977 light blue pick up truck. The pick up was recovered near a back country byway. Her body was finally discovered on March 30 of 2006. It was found about 200 feet from the truck. She had been rolled down a small hill and rocks had been piled on top of her, apparently for concealment.
Upon being autopsied, the official cause of death was listed as asphyxiation. Apparently Jason Martinez had strangled her to death. Her funeral was held on April 5, 2006 and attended by a large crowd of mourners including family and many friends.
On April 27 of the same year the State put Martinez on trial for murder of Eve Batchelder . He was charged with Premeditated Murder, felony Murder and kidnapping. Martinez also went on trial in January of 2007 for dangerous drug charges. What sealed his fate in the investigation, aside from the obvious link of his vehicle and the body discovery, was the evidence that he had planned the murder for quite some time… and told people, including his then girlfriend, what he intended. Eyewitness accounts also place him driving the truck that was later recovered at the scene of the dump site. |
