I was looking for information on a particular crime a few days ago and wound up on the
freedom of information page of the FBI website . It's quite amazing how much information in quantity and diversity you can get on this site.
On the FBI website itself you can find anything from FBI jobs to the official ten most wanted list. By the way, the ten most wanted aren't ranked in any particular order, so there is no number one on the list. I'm not the one generally to tout government sponsored sites, especially ones that gather information on the private lives of its citizens, like the CIA or the FBI.
This site however offers a lot of valuable information for the general public. Some of the topics covered on this site include information on kidnappings and missing persons, bank robberies, sexual predators, prison escapees etc. If a federal crime has been committed it is probably covered on the FBI website .
If you are looking to make some major money, rewards for information on or capturing anyone on the ten most wanted lists, range from $100,000 to $25,000,000. If you are looking to gain some knowledge on an event from the past, check out the freedom of information page that I mentioned earlier, on the FBI website .
Here you'll find FBI files on all kinds of topics. Files on famous people from Sonny Bono to Albert Einstein. Events from UFO landings to animal mutilations. Things like famous murders or the killing of students, by the National Guard, at Kent State University.
The latter contains more than 1100 pages. The FBI website also has plenty of information on itself. Facts like, the FBI is almost 100 years old. It started out in 1908 with 34 employees, it now has over 30,000. Even with its huge work force the FBI is continually looking to expand. It seems there are plenty of opportunities for FBI jobs according to the FBI website .
They are always looking for people who qualify as Linguists, special agents and so on. This site contains information on many more topics than I could possibly mention here. So if you are an info. nut like me, check out the FBI website .
But be warned. If you have anything to hide, this is the FBI you are checking out, they are probably watching you, watching them. |
