| Every time you pick up a newspaper or turn on the television you hear of another conspiracy.
Conspiracy theories are as old as history itself. If you check out conspiracy Nation you will find conspiracy theories on everything from alien space ships landing inNew Mexico to the death of the king (Elvis).
Of course some theories say the king is still alive. I think he was spotted pumping gas in Iowa just last week.
One of my personal favourite conspiracies is the moon conspiracy where it is claimed the moon landing was all faked in a movie studio.
To think the US government would do such a thing as fake a landing on the moon is not that far fetched.
What is far fetched is to think the U.S. government is that intelligent. In most conspiracies involving the government, like the moon conspiracy , we give way too much credit to our elected officials, who are continuously being caught up in bribery scandals, sex scandals and out right lying to the general public. Typing in conspiracy nation will bring you to thousands of sites promoting all types of theories. Some sites give you many different theories for the same event.
For example, there are more than a dozen conspiracy theories on the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. It makes me wonder how many theories are fake themselves.
They can't all be right. Some theories are made up of the same thing we claim the official explanation is full of lies. Some conspiracy theorists (if that's a term), are no more than fiction writers who take a small shred of evidence and build a story around it. They use contradicting eye witness accounts and sometimes poor video images to confuse the reader.
Most of the time they tell the reader only what they themselves believe, whether or not the evidence supports it. In the end they usually say something like, we may not have absolute proof but consider our evidence, you be the judge.
There are many sites that attempt to dispel individual theories, like the moon conspiracy , by offering explanations as to what really happened and why. Given the track record of the central government of the USA , like faking intelligent reports to give them reason to invade Iraq , it is no wonder conspiracy theories are so popular.
People are so cynical about our governments that we are willing to entertain any explanation that differs from the official one. Please lets always keep an open mind and remember anyone who offers a particular explanation usually have their own reasons for twisting the truth to suit themselves. |
